How to Prepare Your Backyard for an Upcoming Party

Having an outdoor party is a great way to spend time with your friends and family. Whether it’s for a birthday, an anniversary, or a weekend get-together, a backyard party is a beautiful idea. It can save you money, make the celebration more intimate, and be a refreshing change from the more traditional party.

Look at all that space. It could be the ideal location, and it’s conveniently located just outside your kitchen door. There is just one problem, your backyard is not ready. What do you do? Below are a few things you can do to get your yard ready on time.

How to Prepare Your Backyard for an Upcoming Party

Fix the Lawn

The first thing you want to do is provide your lawn with the maintenance it deserves. Be sure to cut the grass, fix bare spots, and make your yard look gorgeous before the party. If you start a month or two before the party, you can make your lawn beautiful.

Water Your Grass

Knowing when to water and how much to water the lawn is a secret very few people know. If you have a sprinkler system, program it to go on once in the early morning and once in the evening for four days. If you don’t have a sprinkler system, water lightly for four days, and then water once every other day.

Add Fertilizer

You should fertilize your lawn twice a year, once in fall and once in the spring. But even if you haven’t fertilized it in a while, it is time to do it now.

Add a good fertilizer a month or two before the big event.

Decorate With Containers

Add a few container plants around the backyard. Group and set them up in layers around sitting areas or around the patio. Containers with flowering plants add color and interest to your outdoor space even when you don’t have a green thumb.

Check Your Yard for Pests

Controlling bugs will be essential if you are throwing a backyard party. With proper pest control or a little help from an expert, you can avoid insect infestations that could damage your lawn. In addition, you can get rid of insects that can make you sick. Take the time to identify what kinds of pests are living in your yard.

Clean and Repair Lawn Furniture

If you haven’t used your yard, you may not realize that your patio furniture is a bit grimy. No one wants to sit on dirty outdoor furniture. Clean the furniture with metal polish for aluminum furniture and vinegar and water for other types of lawn furniture. Once you get everything clean, check for damage. Repair what you can or replace old furniture with newer options.

Your yard can be a great place for family get-togethers or even large wingdings, but you have to get everything in order. Clean up the clutter and get the lawn in order before you start sending out invitations.
