5 Outdoor Home Improvement Projects to Do this Summer

With summer nearly here, there are many outdoor projects that you should get ready to do to ensure that your home is ready for the summer and looking good. The more improvements you make to your home, the more value than it is worth.

5 Outdoor Home Improvement Projects to Do this Summer

1. Pressure Wash

Over the winter, dirt, mold, and mildew may get onto the siding of your house, deck, and your outbuildings. Get out your pressure washer and wash your home well. Ensure that you use a bleach solution or other cleansing solution for those areas that do not want to come clean. You can also do your driveway if you have a paved driveway. The more that you do to make your home look clean, the better you will feel about it. If you do not own a pressure washer, you can rent one from your local equipment rental store or have a company come out and pressure wash for you.

2. Clean your Windows

Once you have pressure washed your home, you will probably notice that your windows are dirty. Cleaning your inside windows is easy and probably something that you frequently do. Cleaning your outside windows can be a chore, but you will want to make sure that you get that done before summer. Clean your windows with a cleaner that is made for glass cleaning, and make sure that you clean your windows in a circular motion to avoid streaking and then dry with a paper towel.

3. Build A Patio Or Deck

If you do not have a patio or deck so that you relax or entertain your guests, now is the time that you might want to consider getting one. You can easily add a deck or patio onto your house that can accommodate backyard furniture, entertainment like a television, and a grill. You can choose to add other features like making your deck have a roof on it and screening it in. When choosing to build a deck or patio, make sure that you check with your local laws to ensure that you can build a deck or patio in your location. The choice is yours, and adding a deck or patio will help add great value to your home. If you ever decide to resell your home, you can get a higher amount of money for it.

4. Replacing Your Roof

To get ready for summer, one of the things you should consider is replacing your roof or having it repaired if you have had any damage over the winter. Having a quality roof will help to protect your home from those summertime storms. Have your roof inspected by a reliable roofing company, and if they find that the roof needs to be replaced, you are better off going ahead and having it replaced. Speak with your roofing company about how much it will cost and how soon they can get the repair done. Never try to do your roof yourself as you will not have the knowledge or all the roofing equipment like the roofing company does. Getting your roof replaced will also add value to your home.

5. Cleaning Your Gutters

If you have gutters on your house, you will want to have them cleaned regularly, especially after the winter months. Debris from sticks and leaves can quickly fill your gutter up. Once your gutter fills with this debris, it can cause water to seep in under your roof. This can destroy your roof very quickly. When water gets up under your roof, it can cause the wood to rot. This can allow water to get inside your home. Once water gets inside your home, mold, and mildew can grow. Mold can be a life-threatening issue to those that have an allergy to it. To clean your gutters, you will want to make sure that you remove all the dirt and debris from the gutters. You can do this with your water hose. If you do not feel comfortable doing your own gutters, you can hire a gutter cleaning company to do this for you.

Doing these outdoor improvements can help to ensure that your home looks great and functions well. It can also increase the curb appeal of your home. Consider adding these tasks to your to-do list before summer gets here.
