Bountiful and Beautiful: How Landscaping Can Enhance Your Garden

No matter how beautiful your house it, it can always benefit from a little boost to its surroundings. A great landscape that enhances the yard will add beauty, value, and function to any home. Here are four ways that landscaping can boost your home’s appearance.

Bountiful and Beautiful

Tying in to Nature

A natural setting always looks better. Without some landscaping, your home looks like the one unnatural thing in a natural area. The nearby trees and grass seem very separated from your home. By including some trees, shrubs, and flowers, you reduce the perceived distance between your home and the natural world. A well-designed landscape helps soften the appearance of your durable brick walls and the square corners of your home.

Wildlife Habitat

Plants aren’t the only part of nature you should welcome around your home. Birds, squirrels, and even honeybees can make things more beautiful. Wildlife watching is a lot of fun, and many species are seeing their natural habitats damaged by human intrusion. Adding plants that encourage them and others to visit you will give your home a beautiful, calm appearance that you can’t get from anything else, and it will help them find a safe place to live.

Walking Areas

In addition to beautiful landscaping, you can add hardscapes. These are patios, walkways, and other durable surfaces where you can walk, place furniture, or let the kids play. They allow you to expand your home beyond its walls by creating outdoor areas where you can do many of the same things you’d do indoors, but with all the sights and sounds of nature surrounding you.

Water Features

Movement and sound are always nice in the landscape. When there’s a light breeze, you’ll enjoy watching the limbs swaying gently. You can also get a soothing sound from those rustling leaves, especially after they fall onto your grass in autumn. Another great sound to add to your landscape is water. There are many different ponds, waterfalls, and other features you can incorporate into your home’s design. Many are solar-powered, requiring no electricity. These features add to the peaceful setting of your home.

Landscaping is the finishing touch on a home. What’s great about landscaping is that you can stop anytime when you feel like it’s finished, then start again whenever new ideas come to you. Plants, hardscapes, and water features are great tools for improving the beauty, value, and comfort of your home by making it more pleasant, more peaceful, and more beautiful.
